Prof. Sinerik Ayrapetyan has received his PhD in Cell Biophysics in the Institute of Physiology of Ukraine Academy of Sciences, Kiev during the period of 1966-1970. Currently, he is the coordinator of UNESCO Chair at Life Sciences International Postgraduate Educational Center, Yerevan, Armenia. He has successfully completed his Administrative responsibilities as the president of Life Sciences International Postgraduate Educational Center. His research has included the study of metabolic regulation of cell function in norm and pathology. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like “Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine”, “ISRN Biophysics”, “European Journal of Biophysics”, “Advances in Life Sciences", “Bioavailability and Bioequivalence”, “Applied Pharmacy”, “BBA General Subjects”, “International Dental and Medical Research", “International Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences” & expert Reviewer for journals like “Brain research”, “Radiobiology”, “Bioelectromagnetics”, “Journal of Alzheimer’s diseases”, “Life Sciences” etc. He has authored 7 international books and 115 research articles.

Hari Shanker Sharma, Director of Research (International Experimental Central Nervous System Injury & Repair, IECNSIR), University Hospital, Uppsala University is Professor of Neurobiology (MRC), Docent in Neuroanatomy (UU) and is currently affiliated with Department of Surgical Sciences, Division of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Uppsala University, Sweden. Hari Sharma was born on January 15, 1955 in an Industrialist town Dalmianagar (Bihar), India. He did his Bachelor of Science with Honors from the prestigious L. S. College Muzaffarpur in 1973 and secured 1st position in his batch. He obtained his Master Degree from Bihar University with special expertise in Cell Biology in 1976 and awarded Gold Medal of Bihar University for securing 1st potion in the 1st Class. Hari Sharma joined the group of Professor Prasanta Kumar Dey, a neurophysiologist by training in the Department of Physiology, Institute of Medical; Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 1977 to obtain Doctor of Philosophy Degree (D.Phil.) in Neurosciences and was awarded Ph.D. in 1982 on “Blood-Brain Barrier in Stress.” Hari Sharma after carrying out a series of Government of India funded Research Projects on the BBB and brain dysfunction (1982–1987), joined the lab of Neuropathology at Uppsala University with Professor Yngve Olsson in 1988 to investigate passage of tracer transport across the BBB caused by stress or traumatic insults to the Brain and Spinal cord at light and electron microscopy. Dr. Sharma awarded the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship of German Government (1989–1991) to work on hyperthermia induced BBB dysfunction at the ultrastructural level in the laboratory of Professor Jorge Cervós-Navarro (a living “Legend in Neuropathology in Europe”). Dr. Sharma joined again Uppsala University and established a network of collaboration on “Experimental CNS Injury Research Group” as a lead investigator with eminent collaborators in various parts of Europe, USA, and Australia (1991–). On his work on hyperthermia Dr. Sharma received the prestigious Neuroanatomy award “Rönnows Research prize” of Uppsala University for “best neuroanatomical research of the year 1996” followed by the Award of the Degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences of Uppsala University in Neuroanatomy in 1999 and selected for the Best Thesis Award of the Medical faculty, “The Hwassers Prize” of 1999. On his meticulous works on the Blood Brain barrier and Brain edema (2000–2003) Dr. Sharma earned the prestigious title of “Docent in Neuroanatomy” of Medical Faculty, Uppsala University in April 2004. Currently his main research interest is Neuroprotection and Neuroregeneration, in relation to the Blood-brain barrier in stress, trauma, and drugs of abuse in health and disease. Dr. Sharma on his research on brain pathology and neuroprotection in different models received the prestigious awards from The Laerdal Foundation of Acute Medicine, Stavanger, Norway, in 2005 followed by Distinguished International Scientists Collaboration Award by National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Baltimore, MD (2006–2008). His recent work on 5-HT3 receptor mediated neuroprotection in morphine withdrawal induced neurotoxicity won the coveted prize of Best Investigator Award 2008 and Best Scientific Presentation by European Federation of the International Association for Study of Pain (ISAP), and Awarded during their VI Annual Meeting in Lisbon, September 9–12, 2008. His recent research is aimed to find out the role of nanoparticles in Neurodegeneration and Neuroprotection using various treatment strategies that is supported by European Aerospace Research and Development (EOARD), London, UK and US Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Oh, USA. On his works on Blood–brain barrier in hypertension and diabetes together with Romanian colleagues, University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Iuliu Hatieganu,” Cluj-Napoca, Romania awarded Dr. Sharma with Honorary Doctorate of Medical Sciences in 2009. Dr. Sharma’s work over 30 years on the blood-brain barrier and brain edema won him the US Neurosurgeon Dr. Anthony Marmarou Award (2011) by the International Brain Edema Society at their 15th Congress in Tokyo, Japan, November 20–24, 2011. His works on Nanoneuroscience and development of nanomedicine to treat the CNS injuries has won accolades at various Government and International Scotties or Organization across the World. Accordingly Dr Sharma was decorated with the most prestigious “Hind Rattan Award 2012” (Jewel of India) on the eve of Republic Day of India 25th January 2012 and Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Gold Medal on October 12, 2012 in House of Lords, London, UK. Based on his outstanding contribution in Nanoneuropharmacology and nanodrug delivery to treat central nervous system (CNS) diseases including Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Hari Sharma bestowed with Prestigious Gujarat Govt. International Visionary Award 2012 in a glittering function in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Nov 23, 2012. His further research on co-morbidity factors e.g., hypertension or diabetes may alter pathophysiology of brain injuries and require higher drug dose or nanodrug delivery of neuroprotective agents to minimize brain dysfunction is recognized by Govt. of India by presenting him one of the coveted “Bharat Jyoti Award 2013” (Glory of India) by His Excellency Governor Balmiki Prasad Singh in Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi on Jan 12, 2013. Dr. Jayachandra Babu Ramapuram is an Associate Professor at the Department of Drug Discovery and Development, Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Madras and Masters and PhD degrees in Pharmaceutics from Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi, India.He is currently major/co-major advisor to 6 Ph.D. students and has successfully graduated 5 students under his guidance. His laboratory is funded by few startup and mid-size pharmaceutical companies. He has authored and co-authored 50 research papers and 4 book chapters, and presented his research work in 60 poster and oral presentations in the several national and international conferences. He has served as a chair and co-chair of scientific sessions at the Annual National Meetings of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and Society of Toxicology. He serves as an editorial board member for two journals and as a peer reviewer for more than 25 journals.

His research interests include formulation development of nanoparticle based formulations for topical and oral delivery, solubility improvement of insoluble drugs, percutaneous penetration enhancement techniques, transdermal drug delivery systems.

Amr Amin has completed his PhD at University of Illinois at Chicago, and received a post-doctoral training in the field of molecular genetics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He started his academic career at UAE University where he serves now as a Full Professor of Cell Biology. Amr’s research focuses on ways to control cancer, particularly liver cancer. He published many research articles and reviews and serves as reviewer and as an editorial member of many specialized peer-reviewed journals. He is also a member of many specialized societies and the sole recipient of many scientific awards.

Michiya Matsusaki was born in Kagoshima, Japan in 1976. He received his Ph.D. degree in 2003 under direction of Prof. Mitsuru Akashi from Kagoshima University. He started his academic career as a Postdoctoral fellow at Osaka University from 2003 to 2005. During this period, he was a visiting scientist at the Prof. Carl A. K. Mukesh Verma is Chief of the Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program's (EGRP) Methods and Technologies Branch (MTB), and oversees its research portfolio and initiatives that focus on methods to address epidemiologic data collection, study design and analysis, and to modify technological approaches developed in the context of other research endeavors for use as biomarkers and methods to understand cancer susceptibility. He is responsible for stimulating EGRP-funded research on epigenetic approaches in cancer epidemiology and has been instrumental in developing epigenetics research for NIH as a whole. Dr. Verma helped to develop a Request for Applications (RFA) on Environmental Influences on Epigenetics with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and represents the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS), in NIH's Roadmap Initiative on EpigeneticsExternal Web Site Policy. He helped develop an RFA on Comparative Systems Genetics of Cancer with NCI's Division of Cancer Biology (DCB), and is known within the extramural research community as an EGRP Program Director for Program Announcements (PAs) on Small Grants for Cancer Epidemiology and Pilot Studies in Pancreatic Cancer. He also organized a workshop to explore developing a concept for a research initiative on mitochondrial DNA and cancer epidemiology. Dr. Verma was, and continues to be, a co-Program Director for initiatives in gene-environment interactions in cancer etiology, including the Breast and Prostate Cancer and Hormone-Related Variants Cohort Consortium (BPC3), which is a collaborative project to pool data and biospecimens from a group of large prospective cancer epidemiology cohorts. Dr. Verma joined EGRP as a Program Director in 2004. In 2005, he was appointed Acting Chief of EGRP's former Analytic Epidemiology Research Branch (AERB). When EGRP reorganized in 2007, he was appointed Acting Chief of MTB and of the Host Susceptibility Factors Branch (HSFB), for which he served as Acting Chief through 2008. Before joining EGRP, he was a Program Director in NCI's Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP), where he worked in the areas of biomarkers, early detection, risk assessment, and prevention. He also was Coordinator of DCP's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs. He was on the faculty in the Biochemistry Department of Georgetown University before joining NIH.

He is now working as a researcher in the Statistics and Informatics department at Rey Juan Carlos University. He has published more than 25 papers in reputed journals and 4 patents related to Biometrics. He has participated in many international conferences related to Environmental Science, Photonics, Nuclear Science and Pattern Recognition. He has been lecturer of Biophysics at IE University.

Dr. Sadanand Dhekney is an Assistant Professor of Horticulture at the University of Wyoming. He received his PhD in Horticulture from the University of Florida with specialization in biotechnology of tropical and sub-tropical fruits. Dr. Dhekney’s current research at the University of Wyoming focusses on grapevine genetic improvement using precision breeding. His work involves discovery of genetic elements and genes from the grape genome and development of precision breeding technology for cultivar improvement. He has published 35 research papers, 50 abstracts and 8 book chapters and was a recepient of the 2013 Society for In Vitro Biology ‘Young scientist award’.

My program will utilize techniques in breeding and biotechnology along with improved management practices for expanding grapevine production in Wyoming. Screening Vitis germplasm for yield, quality and cold-hardiness, and evaluation of production systems for seedless grape cultivars in high tunnels will be a major focus area. Additionally, the program will also incorporate recent advances in grapevine genomics and biotechnology for improving abiotic stress tolerance of elite cultivars and rootstocks.

Thomas McKeon has received his PhD in Biochemistry at UC Berkeley with Postdoctoral Research in Plant Biochemistry at UC Davis. He has over 100 publications, mostly in Plant Lipid Enzymology and Molecular Biology. He is an Editor and author for the book chapter “Industrial Oil Crops”. He is an Editor for Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology (BAB), a Board Member for American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS) Biotechnology Division and International Society for Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology (ISBAB). He has organized conferences for ISBAB and for US-Japan Natural Resources (UJNR) Food and Agriculture Panel.

Prabir K. Mandal, Ph.D. (Genetics) is a full Professor at Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, FL. He joined EWC as an Associate Professor of Biology in 2008 and served as the Interim Chair of the Biology Department until 2010. Dr. Mandal initiated and made an articulation agreement between EWC-Life University and EWC-Palmer College of Chiropractic for a dual degree i.e. B.S. in Biology and Doctor of Chiropractic for EWC students majoring in biology. He serves an instrumental role in getting our students into the summer internship for Bioinformatics at Mississippi Valley State University and for the Florida Alliance for Health Professions Diversity. He serves as the Chair of the Institutional Review Board of EWC, executive members of the editorial board of a few peer reviewed journals of international repute. Jose M. Guisan is full Professor at Spanish Research Council (CSIC) since 2001. He obtained Ph. D. in Biochemistry from University Autónoma of Madrid in 1979. He has published more than 400 papers in books and Journals (in more than 90 % as corresponding author) , 25 patent applications, and 36 PhD Theses supervised, 200 foreign students supervised.

After the experimental part of his Doctoral Thesis (2002) he worked with the group “Chemical Processes and Agri-Food Technology TEP-807” (Government of Andalusia), to develop a new technology for olive oil mill wastewaters (from two-phase decanting process) treatment. Currently participates in developing a new line of research entitled “Nematode biomass production in bioreactors” in collaboration with the Genetics area of Pablo de Olavide University. Participated in 17 research projects (European, National, regional, and with companies), with which it has signed several contracts for research. As a result of this research activities has been published 40 articles in journals included in SCI, 1 patent, 2 books, 19 book chapters, and has participated in 73 Congress are most international first class in scope. He has designed, installed and automated Industrial Pilot Plant of Wastewater Treatment for olive-oil mill wastewaters from two phase decanting process with daily treated water capacity 3-5 m3/h. It has been repeatedly Associate Professor (University of Jaén), and Assistant Professor at the University of Jaén (05/06) and the Complutense University of Madrid (06/09). Now he works in Pablo de Olavide University, Seville (Spain) in the Molecular Biology and Biochemical Engineering Department/Chemical Engineering Area as Lecturer.

Georgios Skretas graduated from the School of Chemical Engineering of the National technical University of Athens (Greece) in 1998 and received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University (USA) in 2006. He then moved on to the University of Texas at Austin (USA) to carry out post-doctoral research training under the guidance of Prof. George Georgiou. Since 2009, Dr. Skretas has been the principal investigator of the Laboratory of Enzyme & Synthetic Biotechnology at the Institute of Biology, Medicinal Chemistry & Biotechnology of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (Greece), where he currently holds the rank of Research Assistant Professor.

Dr.D.H.Tejavathi, Professor(Retd.) is working as UGC BSR- FACULTY FELLOW in the Department of Botany, Bangalore University, India. She has published 80 research articles in various national and international journals and completed 8 research projects funded by DST, CSIR, BU-UGC and MoEF, India. She has successfully guided 22 research students for Ph.D degree and 15 students for M.Phil degree. She was conferred with an award ‘Merit of Excellence’ for outstanding contribution to the Medicinal plant research during the 4th international conference on Medicinal plants and herbal products held at John Hopkins University, Rockville, M.D, USA,2012

Hanan I. Malkawi had her bachelor degree in Biological Sciences at Yarmouk University-Jordan, and then she was offered a scholarship from Yarmouk University to get her M.Sc in Bacteriology & Public and then doctorate degree in Microbiology & Molecular Biology both at Washington State University-USA, after which she returned to Jordan and appointed as professor at Yarmouk University. She has been heavily involved in research lines for more than 25 years in biotechnology and bio-nanotechnology and their applications in environment, health, agriculture, microbiology, food & industry. Also research interests in microbial diversity, and bioremediation. She has over 70 published papers in peer reviewed international scientific journals and outstanding teaching and supervision activities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has been invited speaker and member of the organizing committees in numerous International Congresses, Symposia and Forums and participated and gave talks in more than 90 conferences and workshops world-wide. She received several awards and fellowships and is an active member in several national and international committees, associations & organizations.
